New Beginnings aka Take Everything You've Known and Done for the Past 35 Years and Do a Complete 180 Degree About Face

"Terror" would be the word I would use to describe the past 6 weeks of my life. I can't count the number of times I asked myself, "What was a 56 year old woman, whose scariest moments of late was meeting the new class of 5 year olds I taught at the Snohomish Community Church, doing enrolled at the Watkins and Shepard Trucking 30 Day School to learn how to drive a semi truck, which when fully loaded rolls down the road at 80,000 lbs?"

I think my husband Shannon must have been putting something in my food to make me think this was something that I wanted to do AND make me believe that I could actually accomplish it. But here we are driving down I-84 West in our 2005 Freightliner Columbia truck with a Detroit Series 60 engine pulling a Great Dane 53 foot trailer filled with rolls of carpet we picked up in Dalton, GA to be delivered to Portland, OR first thing tomorrow morning.

If I had known ahead of time what the last six weeks would be like, would I do it again? Probably not, because I'm basically a chicken and getting pushed that far outside my comfort zone is not something I would willingly do with foreknowledge, but am I glad I did it? YES, YES, YES!

Stay tuned for a complete retelling of my adventures at school ... but right now it's my turn to drive!
